Barbados becoming a hub for medical education
Barbados is proving to be an attractive location for international medical universities. The most recent ones to set up here are Bridgetown International University (BIU) and Victoria University of Barbados (VUB), both located at Building No.2, Harbour Road, St Michael. They bring the number of international medical schools operating on the island to seven.
Both BIU and VUB are expected to accept their first intake of students – approximately 500 each - from September 1, 2018. They will consist of persons from India, Ghana, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Nepal. The two schools have teamed up with one of India’s largest education providers, Rus Education India Pvt. Limited, to ensure that the venture is a success.
MCI now declares NEET mandatory for MBBS in Abroad
The recent updates and notifications from MCI have been the hot topics of discussions for the medical aspirants. They were confused about the facts of taking admission in MBBS in foreign medical universities. The updates from MCI are however clearly indicating to the fact that now NEET will be applicable and mandatory for the students opting for foreign universities. From May 01, 2018 onwards, students will have to give NEET exam and score a minimum of 50 and 40 percentile for general and reserved categories respectively.
